What is the Washington DC Gaels GAA?


Established in 1988, the D.C. Gaels GAA is an amateur sports club whose objective is to promote Irish sport in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The Gaels have both Ladies' and Men's Gaelic football teams, hurling, and camogie teams.  The D.C. Gaels compete nationally and internationally throughout the summer months, aiming to qualify for the North American Championships. The Gaels compete in the Mid-Atlantic Division of the Gaelic Athletic Association's (GAA) North American County Board (NACB).

The Gaels welcome all ages and all experiences and nationalities.  For more information on the Gaels or Gaelic sports, please contact us. We will be happy to answer your questions. You may also stop by our training sessions or games to see our teams in action.

Executive Committee

The business and affairs of the Washington, DC Gaels is managed by the Executive Committee.  The Executive Committee is elected by the Registered Full Members present at the Annual General Meeting.  The Executive Committee of the club hold office for a period of one year.  The Executive Committee is comprised of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Registrar and at least five Registered Full Members, (at least two of whom shall be under 21 years and over 18 years on the date of the Annual General Meeting).
